Cornhusker Public Power District scores high in operational efficiency compared to other state and national utilities.
Cornhusker’s average total operation expense per kilowatt hour (kWh) sold is $.0115. This compares to the national median of $.019 per kWh and a state median of $.0173 per kWh. Cornhusker’s total operating expense per kWh is 39.5% below the national median and 33.5% below the state median. The figures compiled by the National Rural Utilities Cooperative Finance Corporation compare over 800 non-profit rural electrics.
Regarding rates, Cornhusker also scores very well. Cornhusker’s retail cost to the customers was $.0654 per kWh. The national median was $.0892 per kWh and the state median was $.0783 per kWh. Cornhusker’s rates were 26.7% below the national median and 15.6% below the state median. These figures are from year ending 2007.
