Cornhusker Power Customers Give $4,700 to Help Their Communities
Cornhusker Power Goodwill Fund trustees awarded $4,700 to 25 organizations at the May 3 meeting.
Cornhusker Power General Manager Ron Hostetter said, “Since the program’s inception in 1999, $207,701.45 has been distributed to many worthwhile projects. We encourage customers to round up their electric bill to help their community.”
- In Albion, ACS Boone County Relay for Life received $50 for research; Boone County 4-H Shooting Sports Club, $50 for equipment; Boone County Health Center, $300 for Project Care and Comfort equipment; and the City of Albion, $50 for fireworks.
- In Cedar Rapids, Cedar Rapids Rescue Squad received $300 for a chop saw.
- In Columbus, ADPA Parkinson Disease Support Group received $50 for pamphlets; American Red Cross Prairie Valley, $50 for a closet/storage area; Columbus Community Hospital received $300 for an infant ventilator; Granville Cemetery Association, $200 for a historical marker; Platte County Crime Stoppers, $200 for rewards; and Platte County Historical Society received $200 for a multimedia projector.
- In Creston, Creston Little League received $200 for a new concession stand; and the City of Creston received $200 for maintenance of the swimming pool.
- In Fullerton, Fullerton Area Senior Center received $200 for a flat screen television; and Nance County Ag Society received $200 for a portable sound system.
- In Genoa, Genoa Volunteer Fire Department received $300 for pagers and Twin River High School, $300 for a speaker fee.
- In Howells, Howells Community Catholic School received $300 for lap top computers and Howells Q-125 Celebration received $50 for banners.
- In Lindsay, Holy Family Post Prom received $50 for entertainment.
- In Platte Center, the City of Platte Center received $200 for flower barrels.
- In Schuyler, Fisher’s 24 School received $300 for educational games.
- In Spalding, Spalding Academy School received $300 for a overhead projectors; Spalding Public Post Prom, $50 for prizes; Spalding Rescue Unit, $300 for defibrillator pads.
