Operation Round Up

What Is Operation Round Up?

Operation Round Up is a voluntary program that does just what its name implies. Each month Cornhusker Public Power District simply “rounds up” the electric bills of participating customers to the next highest dollar. When you participate, you join nearly 56% of residential customers who round up their bills.

Small Change That Changes Lives

Through participation, the average contribution per customer is about 50 cents a month or $6.00 a year. Small change to the individual, but the thousands of dollars that are generated from thousands of customers mean a big difference to the people in our area. If your monthly electric bill was $52.73, the amount due would automatically be rounded up to $53.00, with the additional 27 cents going to the Operation Round Up Fund. Donations are tax deductible and customers are sent a summary of their yearly contributions each January or February.

Where Does The Money Go?

All Operation Round Up donations are placed in the Cornhusker Power Goodwill Fund and administered by an independent Board of Trustees. The Cornhusker Power Goodwill Fund Trustees evaluate all requests for funds and decide how they will be distributed. Funds are used to address community needs such as life saving equipment, playground improvements, library equipment, computer software for schools, but it is not limited to these categories.

Who Is Eligible For Funds?

Funding from Cornhusker Power Goodwill Fund is available to organizations within the counties served by Cornhusker Public Power District—Platte, Boone, Nance, Colfax, Greeley and Wheeler. The recipient does not have to be a customer of our District. Organizations may apply once a year. Funds shall not be used for religious or political purposes.

Who Serves On The Board?

The Board of Trustees consists of five people in the Cornhusker Public Power District service area—two members from Platte County, one from Colfax County, one from Nance or Greeley County and one from Boone or Wheeler County.

How Do I Participate?

Please call Cornhusker Public Power District’s office, 402 564 2821, and ask to have your bill rounded-up. Customers not wanting to participate in the program can write ‘NO’ on their electric bill or call our office.  Their account is then excluded from the program.
