Cornhusker Public Power District has an immediate opening for a Line Technician. Range: Apprentice – Journey Line Technician
All applicants must be a graduate of an accredited Utility Line program. An applicant may also qualify if they are a graduate of the Dennis Merchant or similarly recognized national utility line training program; however, you must then also have a minimum of three (3) years of in-the-field utility line experience.
Major Function & duties
Construction, maintenance and operation of overhead and underground lines, substations, and equipment. Operate and maintain district vehicles and hydraulic equipment. Use of two-way radio. Prepare daily time sheets, equipment use reports, expense reports, work order tickets, read system maps. etc. Installation and maintenance of services. Take assigned after-hours standby duty on a regular basis. Become and remain certified in CPR and first aid. Become and maintain as a minimum a Class AO commercial driver’s license.

Cornhusker Public Power District has a Mechanic/ Utility position open:
Perform scheduled servicing of vehicles and equipment. Must have proven diesel mechanic and hydraulic equipment experience. Perform repairs as needed on District vehicles, power operated equipment, maintain shop area in a clean and orderly manner, general welding, troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electrical issues on District’s fleet. Maintain adequate records of fuel, oil change, scheduled maintenance and warranties. Responsible for ordering parts for District vehicles. Responsible for maintaining necessary supply of parts and tools for shop. Assist in unloading freight as needed. General repair of District property. Assist in mowing and snow removal as needed. Water, AED, Fire Extinguisher testing, maintenance, and documentation. Become and remain certified in CPR and first aid. A minimum Class A commercial driver’s license. Other items as assigned or needed.
Must be able to: carry and lift up to 50 pounds, be able to climb, bend, reach, and lift while in awkward positions, to work off of a mechanics creeper while laying on back, stand on concrete floor for several hours at a time. Must have a high emphasis on safety.
Will need to acquire and obtain Water Operator certification.
Must be a high school graduate or equivalent and have at least five years mechanic experience in diesel engines, and hydraulics.
